The Hospital is Following Me

So I am not sure if I mentioned this but I got suckered asked to head up a computer rebuild/rehab project. We are dumped gifted with older computers to rehab for use to non profit organizations like the homeless shelter and such.

Well I was still not done with the first batch because there are processor issues that I didn’t have time to look at and only 1 person showed up to help. The second batch of computers came in so we headed up another day to get students to come and help rehab them. Some of those computers we so old it was unreal. Two of them specifically could only hold and only had 64 mb of ram. No, really.

Anywho, one of the ladies grabbed one of the computers and noticed some writing with marker on the side. She said isn’t this one of the computers at the hospital? I looked at it and sure as shit it was one of MY hospital computers from the clinic area.

We essentially got just about all the ones we could repaired and with operating systems on them until we lost internet connection at the college. We needed that for the OS updates, installing an antivirus and Open Office. So there are about 7 or 8 to finish up but those will be quick.

There were like about 4-5 though that will need some modifications because they only had PATA connections for the hard drives which are beyond repair and we only had SATA hard drives as replacements.

We did find out though since we were putting linux on some of the machines we didn’t have serials to put a Windows OS on that linux requires at the very least 768 mb of RAM.

Oh and I forgot. I got another call for another interview. Now let’s hope I get hired with one of these places. In the meantime, I am still submitting more job applications.

I hope the hospital deleted all the data on the drive! I hear horror stories of stuff like that…
