1. The month of July was named for Roman Emperor Julius Caesar. He’s quoted as saying, ‘Experience is the teacher of all things.” So what has experience taught you lately?

No matter how many associate degrees and years of experience you have if you don’t have that effin Bachelor’s Degree your screwed in the IT world.

2. Where did you last ‘roam’?
Can’t say as I have “roamed” anywhere. Usually I have a purpose to where I’m going.

3. Speaking of ‘Rome’…pizza, pasta, gelato…you can only pick one, which would you choose?
I have to pick one? Uhhhhh, pizza!

4. ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’, ‘All roads lead to Rome’, ‘When in Rome…’ which ‘Roman’ idiom have you most recently encountered? Explain.
I usually go with the flow at least a few times a week. It’s easier than actually trying to fix some things :/

5. What’s a movie you’ve seen or a book you’ve read, that makes you want to book a trip to Italy?
I’ve already been to Italy but I guess I wouldn’t mind going back to visit. All the movies and books I read are either horror or mystery or action so none will lead me to Italy lol Although I do remember The Italian Job movie years ago!

6. Walt’s original Disneyland opened almost sixty years ago, on July 17, 1955 Have you ever been to the California park? How about any of the other Disney parks around the world? What’s your favorite amusement park ride or attraction?

I have never even been to California so I have not been to Disneyland. I have been to Disney World though as that is closer. I love Universal because I LOVE the rides. I’ve got to find someone to go back down there this fall as they opened up some new Harry Potter rides and Diagon Alley!

7. It’s that time of year…when were you last bitten or stung?
Oddly enough this past Sunday when I was walking barefoot in the backyard. I got stung by a wasp. I had to remember if I had to go to the ER last time for Epi or not since I’m allergic to bees.

Homework’s a bitch.

Wednesday Hodgepodge #23

June 25, 2014 @ 9:36 PM | General with Comments Off on Wednesday Hodgepodge #23

Been a long time. Still slammed with a lot of school work but I carved out a little time this week.

1. What summer activity most takes you back to your own childhood?
We used to go to grandpa’s house every summer for a week and also visit our great grandparents as well in Florida.

2. What’s your favorite summer smell?
Freshly mown grass. That is the best!

3. It’s beach season in the US of A…so how do you feel about sand?
I could do without it going into cracks it should not go to.

4. Sun tea, SunChips, sunflower seeds, Capri Sun, Sunny Delight, Sun-Maid raisins, sun-dried tomatoes…your favorite food or beverage with sun in its name?
Sun tea is awesome. You could really make it during the winter down here too.

5. What’s your favorite way to cool off on a hot summer day?
I like to just sit on the back porch when there is a nice strong breeze.

6. Share a favorite song with the word sun or sunshine in it’s title.
Nothing comes to mind at the moment.

7. Tell us about a time you had an exceedingly good or truly awful customer service experience. If it was awful, did you report it? Ever go back there again?
I think AT&T could be the worst. Going through their hoops to get things accomplished when they are in the wrong is pathetic. Complaining does nothing.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
You ever feel the summer just flies on by? It seems this whole year has been like that. I really want to enjoy my summer more by being outside doing things but I’m the idiot that scheduled myself with 2 history classes and a C++ programming class for the summer to get some more prereq’s out of the way towards my Bachelor. Starting next year I’m taking summers off!

It’s a Monday People

June 23, 2014 @ 11:46 PM | Annoyed with Comments Off on It’s a Monday People

brokenpc Haven’t been over here in a while. Things have gone crazy this summer and I’m not really doing anything except working and taking classes. I also took the kids to camp like I do every year. Never set yourself up with TWO history classes and a C++ programming class in one semester. Either way, I’m getting it done until the research papers are due next month and then I’m gonna drown in writing.

Today was a disaster at work too. I got in a 6 AM as I am early shift this week and hoping to get some homework done prior to the due dates so I can work on the research papers. So far I haven’t managed that as I got home at 3:30 and it’s over 2 hours later now.

So what happened today? Well, anything that could break essentially did. One of the modules in our medical record system went kaput because apparently they wanted us to use the new updated module that we received just last week but haven’t tested yet. Over the weekend they killed the older version without letting anybody know. Of course the module they killed off was the communication module between the staff and doctors.

So, we were getting tons of emails in from that as well as phone calls UNTIL the email went down. Yep, both servers had a failure. Go figure. So then we were getting phone calls only to then realize that the phone system was going wonky too and you couldn’t call certain numbers and it was a hit or miss as to the number you were dialing that worked or not. So essentially every single form of communication was hit lol

Fun times eh?

1. March is known as the windy month. Which of the following phrases best fits your March so far…’throw caution to the wind’, ‘three sheets to the wind’, ‘run like the wind’, or ‘see which way the wind blows’?
See which way the wind blows for me. The wind has been waaaayyy high and annoying with the cold weather. It makes it even colder.

2. Your favorite green food? Your favorite dish made with your favorite green food?
Broccoli is my favorite food. I will make broccoli, zuccinni, squash, green beans all steamed then saute with garlic and some turkey sausage or chicken tossed over pasta with olive oil. Gonna make that tomorrow with turkey sausage.

3. Ever been locked out of your home-car-office-anywhere? Do tell!
I’ve been locked out of all of the above lol. I have learned out to break into my house though. The other places I’m pretty much screwed depending on if I can get a security guard to open up my office but then I still wouldn’t be able to get into my desk drawers as they are locked too.

4. Yoda, Kermit, Shrek, The Wicked Witch of the West, Oscar the Grouch, The Grinch, or Mike Wasowski (Monsters Inc.)…of the green characters listed, which one’s your favorite and why?
Yoda!! I love me some Star Wars!! Someone actually had the nerve to tell me Yoda was only a character the other day. I told him he better not say that at a comic con else he is going to get the crap beat out of him lol

5. “The first task of a leader is to keep hope alive.”~Joe Batten Do you agree? Why or why not?
I agree, especially if you are at war. Once that slope slides down it could just crumble all around you.

6. Share a favorite song with an emotion in it’s title.
I’m at a loss on this one. I know a lot of song titles but the only thing that is sticking is Sweet Emotion from Aerosmith only because it has emotion in the title lol

7. What’s a road trip you’d like to take?
I love road trips. I’d like to “go west young man, go west”. I’ve flown to Vegas but I wouldn’t mind driving to visit Texas. I’ve already been up and down the east coast and some in the middle.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Ever feel like you will never finish something you started? I’m still going to school to get a Bachelor’s Degree now after 2 Associates. It’s almost like a never ending process.

1. Thursday marks the first day of spring…to celebrate would you rather plant a garden or go for a walk in the woods? Would either of those activities be possible on Thursday where you live?

I would rather plant a garden because I really don’t want ticks all over me. It’s cold and rainy. So yes, it would be possible, but no I won’t be doing either lol

2. When did someone last spring something on you? (or when did you last spring something on someone?)
I don’t like being sprung with anything nor do I like doing it to anybody.

3. We often think of spring as a time for new beginnings. What’s something you’d like to start doing this spring?
Hmm, I’m not really sure. I will have my vegetable garden and I will be going to our kidney camp. Maybe get to the beach more?

4. Where do you like to sit in a movie theatre? When did you last sit there, and what were you watching?
I sit in the very back where there are the seats by themselves with the empty space for the wheelchair access. I don’t like it when people talk or look at their phone during the movie. I watched Need for Speed this past weekend. I am going to watch Divergent this coming weekend.

5. When you meet someone for the very first time, what do you want them to think about you?
Hmm, I haven’t really thought of this but honestly people have an instinct about someone the minute they meet you so there isn’t anything you can do or say to change their mind.

6. March is frozen food month (yes, really!). Besides ice cream (gotta make you think a little) what’s your most often purchased frozen food item?
I actually don’t purchase ice cream. I purchase a lot of frozen vegetables and the meals in a box as my lunch at work.

7. What’s something you avoid?
My homework until the last minute.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Ever notice how shows do half years for their seasons now and new ones show up to cover the rest during the summer? How am I supposed to just get outside and do stuff if they keep putting on shows I want to watch?

1. Are we always responsible for our actions? Are there any exceptions?
I think you should always be responsible for your own actions. Exceptions? I guess extenuating circumstances but I’ve never been put in that position.

2. Has anyone from your home town become famous?
I’ve known a few people who are famous actors/actresses but I don’t think any of them were actually born here.

3. January was National Slow Cooker month. Do you own a slow cooker/crock pot? Did you use it last month? What’s a favorite dish you make using a slow cooker or crock pot?
I have a 4 quart crock pot and love it. I actually roast small chickens in there as well as make my chili and soups. I did in fact use it last week, which was last month, to make chili for the freezing temperatures we had.

4. How do you feel about private companies collecting data about you?
Don’t like it one bit. I’m trying to stay away from most of the google products but that damn gmail has me hooked so it is so convenient.

5. The Games of the 2014 Winter Olympics kick off with their opening ceremony this coming Friday….will you be watching? Which Winter Olympic event would you most like to see in person? Have you ever been to Russia? Any desire to go, Olympics or otherwise?
I will probably catch some of the opening ceremony but maybe not watch all of it. I have never been to Russia. I would love to go to the Olympics. I have favorite sports in the summer and winter Olympics.

6. Share a good or bad sports related memory from your childhood or teen years.
I was playing softball and blew out my knee going to 1st base. Still have issues with it to this day.

7. What’s a must have song for you on a work out play list? If you don’t work out, run, swim, bike, walk, or anything else that could be construed as ‘exercise’, then what’s a song that motivates you to at least get up off the couch?
I like a fast beat when I’m running. Makes me go longer. Right now my favorites include Pentatonix – Get Lucky, Pitbull – Timber, Katy Perry – Roar, Imagine Dragons – Demons, Robin Thicke – Blurred Lines, Pitbull – Back in Time. I even have it time out perfectly too. Usually it takes 3 songs to get through a mile so that alone will get me through 2 miles 🙂

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I feel like I’m waiting for eternity on W2’s. I know they have to be post marked by January 31st but really? I’m still waiting on 1 from an online company then I can file. I’ve had them done for over a week now. I really need the money too to fix my car and my TV.
